Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC PhD student Billy Haworth has been awarded a prestigious scholarship by the International Association of Wildland Fire.
Billy was chosen as the scholarship winner by a panel of international fire science experts, and is the only recipient at the doctoral level for 2015.
"It's not an easy task undertaking a PhD so any opportunity for support is highly valued," said Billy.
"For my research to have the support and recognition of the International Association of Wildland Fire, such a well respected organisation in the field of fire research, really is awesome! The IAWF scholarship will greatly benefit my research by enabling vital additional field work and data collection and facilitating further opportunities to discuss my research with relevant stakeholders in the fire community, critical for ensuring policy relevance of my work."
Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC Contract Research and Education Manager, Lyndsey Wright, passed on her congratulations to Billy.
"It is great to see our excellent students recognised in such important international forums," she said.
