John Nairn from the Bureau of Meteorology presents at the 2015 conference.
The call for abstracts for the 2016 Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC and AFAC annual conference in Brisbane is now open. All CRC projects are expected to submit an abstract, with the conference being a major avenue to the fire, land management and emergency services industry.
The conference will take place at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre from 30 August to 2 September. The theme is Mitigation – Response – Recovery: Getting the balance right.
All the details needed to submit an abstract are available on the conference website, including submission guidelines with detailed information about the conference theme and topics to address. Note that abstracts must be submitted through the dedicated conference website.
A dedicated Research Forum will be held on the first day, and it is anticipated that many science papers will also appear on the program in subsequent days. The CRC will published science proceedings in a special publication following the conference. Selected papers will be peer-reviewed.
This year the conference has a new partnership with Hannover Fairs Australia, a subsidiary of Deutsche Messe, the organiser of the world-leading exhibition for firefighting, fire protection and rescue: INTERSCHUTZ. The partnership will deliver #AFAC16 under a renewed focus to embrace and support all fire and emergency agencies to achieve their goals and preserve public safety.
The #AFAC16 powered by INTERSCHUTZ Exhibition will attract and showcase the latest developments in emergency services equipment and technology from around the globe to the Australasian region.
