Yang receiving her Royal Society of Victoria Young Research Scientist award.
CRC PhD student Yang Chen (Monash University) has beaten off 100 other entries to win the Royal Society of Victoria Young Scientist Research Prize. Yang was awarded for the biological sciences category for her research on modelling forest litter-bed fuel load using LiDAR.
In the final year of her PhD, Yang said she wants to continue her pursuit of forest and fire-related studies.
"It was my great honour to have received the Young Research Scientist Award from the Royal Society of Victoria.
"I wouldn't have been able to achieve this without the guidance from my supervisors Dr Xuan Zhu, Dr Marta Yebra, Prof Nigel Tapper and Dr Sarah Harris. I'm also very grateful to Monash, the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC, the Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning, Parks Victoria and CSIRO Queensland for their support," Yang said.
Yang received her award at a ceremony on 11 August. Congratualtions Yang on this great achievement.
