Registrations are now open for AFAC18 powered by INTERSCHUTZ, the annual conference of the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC & AFAC. Take advantage of the Early Bird discounted rate, available from now until 29 June 2018.
The conference will take place at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre from 5-8 September 2018. The CRC's all-hazards Research Forum will begin the conference week. Showcasing the latest natural hazards science, the Research Forum is not just for scientists – it is the perfect opportunity for focused discussions between the research community and emergency managers on industry issues. While the first day will be dedicated to natural hazards science, many science papers will also appear on the program in subsequent days. These discussions are important now more than ever as we continue to embed research findings into practice.
This years conference will explore the theme ‘Changing lives in a changing world'. The conference program will embrace three tiers of change: how emergency services change lives, how we can change ourselves and the emergency management sector for the better, and how we can all thrive in an ever-changing and complex environment. The conference will be slightly different this year, with the option for participants to register for either the main AFAC18 streams or the concurrent Australian Disaster Resilience Conference.
A number of keynote and invited speakers from Australia and overseas have already been locked in. AFAC18 will feature keynotes presenting on a range of topics with a focus on international perspectives, as well as collaborating locally with other sectors.
The full program will be released on 30 April 2018.
