CRC reports

• Two reports have been released from the Cost-effective mitigation strategy for building related earthquake risk project: The first, titled final report on vulnerability of as-built and retrofitted URM buildings, is authored by Prof Michael Griffith and Dr Jaroslav Vaculik.

• The second report, titled cost-effective mitigation strategy development for building related earthquake risk: progress report on economic loss modelling, was written by Dr Itismita Mohanty, Mark Edwards, Dr Hyeuk Ryu and Martin Wehner.

• Dr Briony Towers, Sophie Perillo and Prof Kevin Ronan have written a report that looks at the feasibility and accessibility of school-based disaster resilience education (DRE). The report is from the CRC core-research project Child-centred risk reduction and examines the Disaster Resilience Project.

• CRC researcher Jessica Weir and Dean Freeman have released a report titled Fire in the south: a cross-continental exchange from the project Hazards, culture and Indigenous communities

• David Henderson, Daniel Smith, Korah Parackal and John Ginger have written a report on the analysis of damage surveys of houses and preliminary input of VAWs as from the Improving the resilience of existing housing to severe wind events project.

• A paper from the Cost-effective mitigation strategy for flood prone buildings project has been published by Dr Ken Dale, Dr Tariq Maqsood, Mark Edwards and Dr Krishina Nadimpalli titled cost-effective mitigation strategy development for flood prone buildings: flood damage models for floodplain management workshop.

Journal articles

• Published in the Journal of Wind Engineering and Industrial Aerodynamics, Mitchell Humphreys, John Ginger and David Henderson have written a paper titled Internal pressures in a full-scale test enclosure with windward wall openings.

• Simulated transport of short-range embers in an idealised bushfire is the title of a new journal article published in the International Journal of Wildland Fire was written by Rahul Wadhwanni, A/Prof Khalid Moinuddin and Dr Duncan Sutherland as part of the Refinement and validation of the pyrolysis and firebrand transport sub-models for a physics based bushfire prediction model project.

• Completed PhD student Sarah Hall has co-published a journal article with Anne Turner, Sam Robertson, Sally Ferguson and Brad Aisbett titled Salivary cortisol profiles of on-call from home fire and emergency service personnel in The International Journal on the Biology of Stress
