A high-level summary of research, utilisation and engagement activities of the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC over the last year, is now being sent to all partners and is available to read online.
The CRC’s annual report, A year in review 2019-20, provides an overview of the CRC near the end of its current funding period where it was important to ensure all research milestones were on track and that foundations for future research were laid.
The focus for this period was on the delivery and utilisation of valued research outputs to CRC partners, which was supported by activities focused on promoting the value and impacts of the research program for partners and for the wider community.
COVID-19 restrictions from March this year affected the CRC’s research and outreach activities, particularly in regard to the workshops and forums that were to take place. As is evident in the annual report, wherever possible, online alternatives were found to ensure that interaction continued and research milestones were reached.
The primary activities over 2019-20 have been:
reviewing the centre’s operations, governance, and research quality and progress
delivering utilisation opportunities by bringing together researchers, partners and broader stakeholders through a calendar of events, conferences, workshops and online engagements
building the capacity of the sector through postgraduate research and mentoring
developing options beyond the current funding period to transition to an ongoing research centre.
