CRC researcher wins biennial medal for modelling research

Prof Holger Maier, Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC researcher from the University of Adelaide, has been awarded the Modelling and Simulation Society of Australia and New Zealand Inc.’s (MSSANZ) Biennial Medal for his research contributions to modelling and simulation.

The Biennial Medal is awarded every two years by MSSANZ for an exceptional and sustained research contribution to the advancement of modelling and simulation for the solution of scientific and technological problems.

Prof Maier has been involved with the CRC since the CRC began in 2012 as research leader of the Economics and strategic decisions research cluster and as project lead of the Improved decision support for natural hazard risk reduction project. His research focused on the development of the Unified Natural Hazard Risk Mitigation Exploratory Decision Support System (UNHaRMED), a decision support system for the assessment of policy and planning investment options for optimal natural hazard mitigation.
