The primary outcome of this project is an evidence-based Fire Behaviour Index and Rating to support a new National Fire Danger Rating System (NFDRS), codified in software and described in peer reviewed journal articles.
The benefits of the project work are realised through implementation as part of the NFDRS. These benefits include a modern and more accurate way of assessing the fire risk in the landscape that is scientifically proven, and supports better decision making, so communities can have confidence in the way fire and emergency services assess and warn about the risk of fire.
