Abstract | Some aspects of sleep quantity and quality may be affected when on-call. The two main stress systems are largely unaffected by on-call work, with the exception of the cortisol awakening response. Two characteristics of the cortisol awakening response were blunted when on-call with a night callout compared to when off-call. |
