About
Professor Hilary Bambrick is Director of the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health (NCEPH) at the Australian National University in Canberra, a large interdisciplinary Research School, where she leads a diverse team of around 200 researchers and educators.
An environmental epidemiologist and anthropologist, Professor Bambrick has worked as a researcher and communicator in climate change and health for over 25 years, to better understand risk and to reduce harm and health inequalities.
Her work has been global, but with particular focus on Australia, Asia and Pacific, and Ethiopia. Professor Bambrick has worked with the WHO and the UNDP and with governments in Australia and overseas on impacts assessment and adaptation.
The scale of her work ranges from community-led projects in remote islands and in informal communities, to large multinational resilience strategies. She frequently serves as an expert advisor, for example on government strategy and in climate litigation.
