Kerstin Zander is a Professor of Environmental Economics at the Northern Institute at Charles Darwin University. She holds a PhD in Environmental and Resource Economics from the University of Bonn, Germany (2006). Her research is looking at the diverse relationships between humans and nature and aspires to increasing human well-being and sustainability while helping people cope with changing environments and natural hazards.
Prof Zander has a keen interest in making her research relevant to society, in Australia and abroad, and she aspires to build research capacity of future climate change leaders. She has published more than 150 scientific journal articles and 15 book chapters. She is among the world’s top 2% most influential scientists in her field of environmental science (according to Stanford University rankings). Prof Zander has held prestigious fellowships such as an Australian Postdoctoral Fellowship by the Australian Research Council and a Humboldt Research Fellowship for internationally recognised researchers.
