Based around a scenario of cascading natural hazards that will investigate how our systems would cope today and in the year 2035, the program for the 12th Australasian Natural Hazards Management Conference has been launched.
Hosted by the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC in Canberra from 17-19 June, the program explores an all hazards scenario through a series of expert panel discussions designed for audience contribution. ANHMC19 will be an important discussion point for the future of emergency management in Australia and New Zealand that looks at how our natural and constructed systems would be impacted now, before examining how the same series of events could play out in the future.
Guest speaker Robert de Castella AO MBE, Director of the Indigenous Marathon Foundation, kicks off the welcome reception on Monday 17 June, on the role of sport and community in disaster recovery.
Keynotes on days two and three include:
Jo Horrocks, Ministry of Civil Defence & Emergency Management, New Zealand
Mark Crosweller, National Resilience Taskforce, Department of Home Affairs
Animesh Kumar, Deputy Head of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, Regional Office for Asia and Pacific.
