Earlier in the year, the AFAC Conference team committed to making a firm decision in early May around whether AFAC20 powered by INTERSCHUTZ, scheduled for the 25th-28th August in Adelaide, would continue given the COVID-19 pandemic.
Following consultation with key stakeholders, the AFAC Conference Team has announced today that the conference will be postponed. This includes the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC's Research Forum, which was to take place at the conference.
"It is with deep regret that we announce that AFAC20 powered by INTERSCHUTZ will be postponed," said Stuart Ellis, CEO of AFAC, and Tim Bostridge, Managing Director of Hannover Fairs Australia, in a joint statement today. "All activities will be delayed until AFAC21 powered by INTERSCHUTZ, which will run over the 17-20 August 2021 at the ICC Sydney."
The conference will return to Adelaide in 2022.
The Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC is looking at options for delivery of Research Forum content in light of our goals for 2020/21, and will be in contact soon with an update.
