Researchers are needed to lead a new project with the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC for the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP). The project is investigating the resilience and response of four specific ecosystems to fire. Expressions of interest are now open for the project.
EOI proposals for the project, Ecosystem resilience – establishment of collection and analyses for four priority ecological fire groups, are due by 2 September 2020.
The research will examine the effects of fire, including bushfire and planned burning, on the resilience of four ecosystems—grassy/heathy dry forest, ironbark/box, high altitude shrubland woodland, and tall mixed forest—to measure their effectiveness for guiding fire management.
The knowledge and outcomes of this project will support decision making for strategic bushfire management across Victoria by providing data for models and tools used in fire management across the state. The research is due to be completed by June 2022.
