The decision by people to remain at home or evacuate during the recent floods in northern NSW is being assessed through a new survey.
If you were impacted by the floods in March and April, covering the Richmond, Brunswick and Tweed river catchments (all towns in this area), our researchers would like to hear your perspective. The research is investigating people's decision making, with the results helping to improve community engagement and emergency management policy.
The study is investigating the experiences of both those who evacuated, as well as those who stayed at their property during the floods, lead research Dr Katharine Haynes (Macquarie University) said.
"By telling us about your experience, expectations, and knowledge of flooding, you will be making an important contribution to improving community safety during extreme flooding events,” said Dr Haynes.
