Planning for catastrophic disasters: participants needed for survey

Emergency management practitioners are encouraged to share their views on planning and preparation for catastrophic disasters as part of the Catastrophic and cascading events: planning and capability project.

A survey is now open, with the information collected to assist in improving planning and preparedness frameworks used by emergency management agencies.

A catastrophic disaster is an event that is beyond our current arrangements, thinking and experience (i.e. that has overwhelmed our technical, non-technical and social systems, resources, and has degraded or disabled governance structures and strategic operational decision-making functions.) 

The survey is open until 9 April, and will take around 15 minutes to complete. A summary of the results will be available publicly. Complete the survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/catdis2
