Hazard Note 56 focuses on new research initiated by Beyond Blue in collaboration with the CRC on a national survey of the mental health and wellbeing of police and emergency services personnel.
More than 21,000 current and former employees, and volunteers were surveyed on nine themes covering their prevalence of mental health, stigma and seeking support.
Findings show that 25 per cent of respondents had high psychological distress, while 83 per cent of employees reported that work did not affect their private life.
The survey also sheds a light on debriefing and compensation in the workplace.
