Expressions of interest are now open for two new Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC projects for the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning Victoria (DELWP).
The two subprojects will inform DELWP’s Fire Ecology Strategy and Ecological Metric Enhancement project, which will deliver a long-term fire ecology strategy and enhance DELWP’s forest and fire ecology program including its use of ecological resilience metrics. EOI proposals for both projects are due by 14 April 2021.
The Fire Ecology Strategy: ecological resilience assessment tools and process review subproject, seeks to provide an independent technical review of DELWP’s ecological assessment program and provide strategic direction for improving the data, tools, processes and metrics that DELWP use to measure and forecast ecosystem resilience.
The second subproject, Fire Ecology Strategy: subject matter expert engagement, seeks to lead consultation with subject matter experts on two key areas of DELWP’s Fire Ecology Strategy:
review of the current, and a proposed new, governance and program coordination structure across DELWP’s forest and fire ecology program
development of strategic direction for structural and technical aspects of the fire ecology program.
The research for both subprojects can be conducted by the same team, or it could be conducted separately. The research is due to be completed by 14 June 2021.
