Flood management in a changing climate

Flooding is Australia’s most expensive natural hazard and climate change will magnify risks. But recent floods suggest that Australia has limited capacity to manage even current risks. Hazard Note 47 highlights PhD research by Dr Caroline Wenger, who investigated mitigation strategies used overseas to see which strategies could best be adapted in Australia. Findings from this research have implications for policy, land planning and management.
