The January 2018 edition is available online now, with a focus on recovery and global disaster resilience. The issue investigates a range of research and developments in hazards and emergency management including CRC research on risk ownership and rising sea levels.

There is also coverage of International Day for Disaster Reduction, with Australia’s event held in Sydney. Fifty emergency personnel and researchers gathered to discuss disaster resilience, promoting a global culture of risk-awareness which can be adopted by Australians.
This issue of the Journal also congratulates the recipients of the 2017 Resilient Australia Awards. Communities around Australia were recognised for their readiness and preparation for natural hazards. The Strathewen Education Partnership-Claymation project was commended for its detail and preparedness measures, after the school experienced the devastation caused by the Black Saturday bushfires.
